An
Introduction to English Writing
Starting 2016, the Ministry of Education
introduced a new format for the UPSR English paper.
For the first time, there were two
separate papers for English which will contribute to 2 A's. There were the
Bahasa Inggeris - Pemahaman and Bahasa Inggeris - Penulisan.
For the writing paper (Bahasa Inggeris -
Penulisan), it is divided into three sections, namely Section A, Section B and
Section C.
In Section A, pupils needed to
transfer information from either a linear text to a non-linear text or from a
non-linear text to a linear text.
Pupils will be given words and phrases
relating to the stimuli.
Pupils have to fill in the blanks using
the information from the question into the text given.
Pupils need to understand the stimuli and
use the words or phrases given appropriately in order to complete the text
given.
Some of the questions that can be asked
for example letters, notes, postcards, notices etc.
Pupils must make sure that the answers
they write are not only grammatically correct but also the content is related
to the stimuli given.
.
Example:
Study the schedule and use the information
given to complete the text.

Hi Hiroshi. For your information, I will

around the island and take the cable car to Macincang Mountain. We will see stunning
scenery from the longest free span and curved bridge in the world. For the next
day, we will spend the day snorkelling at Payar Island. We will have packed
lunch and continue to enjoy the fishes and corals in the crystal clear water.
We will be back in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday morning. Then we will visit other
places here. I hope you will enjoy this trip.

Halimah
Section C
Ramli and Yazid were walking to the shop.
They had to pass by Pak Halim's farm which has variety of vegetables. Suddenly,
Pak Halim called them to help him. Two of his workers didn't come to work.
They helped to pick the chilies and other
vegetables and placed them into the baskets. Once completed they rested.
Not long after that a lorry came. They
helped the workers to load the vegetables onto the lorry. Before the boys went
back, Pak Halim gave them some money. After that they went to the shop and
bought some groceries. They were very happy.
